Here at the Gardens of Sunshine Hollow we are continuing to strive for excellence and to make the Gardens a more beautiful place to visit each year. A series of trails lead through many acres of terraced garden beds and surrounding forest. The new Azalea Trail travels over two miles through the interior of the Hollow where you can see thousands of wild Azaleas in bloom in the spring. In our Sun Gardens over fifteen hundred varieties of daylilies, dahlias, roses, Cannas and Iris are displayed along 3000 feet of flower beds. There are also hundreds of hanging baskets and planters. These are mingled with other perennials, annuals and shrubs such as Azaleas, Rhododendron and Japanese Maples. See new and different Perennials and Annuals along with trellises of exotic flowering vines. The Margaret Whitehead Rhyne Shade Garden surrounds our pavilion and incorporates over 100 varieties of Hosta as well as many native and introduced ferns, annuals, and perennials. The Hosta display continues along a nature trail. The trail follows a beautiful creek that travels the length of the Hollow for one half mile displaying over 250 varieties of Hosta plus other perennials, annuals and shrubs. It ends at the display gardens near the entrance to Sunshine Hollow where you may take the Azalea trail back to the main Garden.

The Gardens of Sunshine Hollow total over 20 acres and are located in a 160 acre forested hollow with a sparkling two-acre lake at its center. Sunshine Hollow has truly become a place to experience and enjoy!

Lunch:
Lunch is served mid April thru July in the gardens from 10 am to 3 pm (Sundays 1 pm to 3 pm). Top your lunch off with HOME MADE Ice Cream or one of the wonderful treats from our bakery. Spend a morning or afternoon with us or all day! If you wish to see it all, then plan on at least two to four hours and bring comfortable shoes and clothing for walking outdoors.

Location:
The Gardens are located between Knoxville and Chattanooga off I-75 at Exit 42. (Riceville Exit)

New Activities:
One of the newest completions is the Hollow Ridge Road. It is a three mile road around the ridges of the Hollow. Deep woods and steep slopes give the impression of a rugged mountain road. The terrain is typical of the many ridges in the Great Valley of Tennessee. The road will be available for driving, horseback riding, and hiking. Wagon rides around the road will also be available. Another new walking trail which runs around the interior of the Hollow will be named the Azalea Trail. This trail will run through hundreds of wild azaleas and hybrid azaleas that we have been adding. It will be approximately two miles in length. We are also going to add hundreds of butterfly bushes to this area and rhododendrons for color in the Spring and Summer.

Groups:
All sizes of groups are welcome by prior appointment. Bus tour groups receive a special rate and get one coomplimentary admission per twenty guests.

Directions (We are located between Knoxville and Chattanooga): Take I-75 to Exit 42 (Riceville Road). Exit and go West. Go four miles till just past Rogers Creek Market & take next left on County Road 82 (SIGN). Go past Rogers Creek School three miles to a large white building and turn left in front of it on County Road 52 (SIGN). Go one half mile to our drive on right (SIGN).
