Museum at Central SchoolTELL A FRIEND
Operated by the Northwest Montana Historical Society, this history museum is housed in the elegantly restored Central School building originally constructed in 1894 in Richardsonian Romanesque architechture style. Permanent and rotating exhibitions illuminate local history and include Northwest Native American Culture; the life & times of Montana pioneer Frank Bird Linderman; vintage photos and artifacts of Early Kalispell; the history of turn-of-the-century community of Demersville; displays on the U.S. Forest Service and northwest Montana logging industry; scheduled to open in early 2007 will be Wild Montana, the only major natural history exhibition in northwest Montana, featuring mounts in natural settings of the local and migrant bird, fish and mammal species from the highest peaks of Glacier Park to the low-lying wetlands of Flathead Lake.
Conveniently located in the Downtown Kalispell Historical District, two blocks east of highway 93 at 124 2nd Ave E. Kalispell is in the heart of the Flathead Valley of Northwest Montana and is served by the nearby Glacier International Airport and Amtrak depot in Whitefish, Montana.
Open June to September, Monday-Saturday 10-5 and October to May, Tuesday-Saturday, 10-5.
