Cape Henlopen is an ocean park that features a bathhouse with food concession and umbrella rentals. Lifeguards are also on duty here from Memorial Day thru Labor Day, so swimming, sunbathing and surfing are popular activities here as well. Surf fishing is allowed and there is also a fishing pier into the bay with a bait and tackle shop. Visit the Seaside Nature Center for nature programs or to visit the aquariums filled with ocean life.

Other programs include natural history lectures, outdoor concerts, seaside seining, and bird watching among others. For exercise you can rent a kayak, or there are several biking and walking trails as well as basketball courts and a disc golf course. Make reservations in our campground and spend the night so you can visit the Fort Miles Historic Area the next day. Cape Henlopen was once a World War II fort built for coastal defense. Take a tour of the fort, enjoy an interpretive program and climb our restored observation tower.
