Containing the largest freshwater pond in Delaware, Lums Pond is an ideal spot for boating with a boat ramp and boat rentals available. Lums Pond also offers fishing, hiking and biking trails and camping for outdoor enthusiasts. For the more sports minded there is a disc golf course and game courts and ball fields. Pavilions, picnicking, and playgrounds are also popular pastimes, as are riding the horses from the equestrian center.

The park also contains the Whale Wallow Nature Center, which holds interpretive nature programs.
